Swims was established in 1998, starting with one Wednesday evening at Trinity School pool, Trinity Avenue, Northampton. I then acquired more pool time, Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
The number of pupils that came to Swims started to improve. Mostly it has been by word of mouth that has helped my swim school grow, parents, I believe, like the way our pupils progress by our high standards. We are a friendly group and any questions or problems that arise we are there and willing to answer and help you in any way.
All the teachers at Swims are fully qualified and hold a Life Saving Qualification.
In 2008 I had the opportunity to move my swims school to Weston Favell School, Booth Lane South, Northampton. The school was being rebuilt with a new swimming pool with up to date facilities. It is a lovely pool, 20 metres by 8 metres, (ideal for teaching children) and is well maintained.
Each class has course aims, working towards Certificates and
Badges, Water Skills,
Distance, Swimming Challenge, Personal Survival, Strokes and Sprints etc.
The Northampton Swimming Club hold swimming galas throughout the year and we encourage our pupils from the Improvers, Stroke Technique and the Elite classes to participate.
I do feel we have a good rapport with our pupils and their parents. To see the children progress through the classes is very rewarding. I have had pupils that have gone into competitive swimming and pupils that have trained to be Lifeguards.
The teachers at Swims and I love our work. We want the best for our pupils and for them to enjoy their swimming lessons by being happy learning to swim and gain confidence through our classes. Our standards are high but I believe this to be a benefit to the children in their growth and confidence.
